Programs & Groups

At Columbia, we believe in a collaborative approach to treatment with our adult clients. We listen to your concerns, do a thorough evaluation, and set joint goals based on the results of assessment and a client’s individual needs and wishes.

Intensive Stuttering Program

The Adult Intensive Stuttering Clinic is an comprehensive group program that runs annually for long-term speech improvement for people who stutter or stammer. The program for 2025 is scheduled to begin on August 1st. This intensive clinic has limited opportunities for full funding available via grants from the provincial government.

Intensive Aphasia Program: ITAWC

ITAWC is an intensive treatment program for people with aphasia, a language disorder affecting a person’s ability to speak, understand, read, or write as a result of an injury to the brain, usually after a stroke.

Aphasia Group

We offer two, weekly aphasia groups that meet in person or virtually.  Groups focus on conversation, connection and a life participation approach.  This program is open to adults with chronic aphasia living in the Fraser Health Region, regardless of date of onset at no cost.

Voice Treatment for Parkinson's: LSVT

Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is an evidence-based speech therapy program designed to improve vocal loudness, clarity, and communication in individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions.

English Pronunciation Improvement Course: EPIC

The English Pronunciation Improvement Course, EPIC, is an online course designed for corporations to offer their employees, whose first language is not English. EPIC teaches participants to speak more like native Canadian English speakers, through techniques for oral posturing, rhythm and intonation patterns.

Social Communication Group

Social Communication Group for Adults with ABI is a program designed to help adults after brain injury transition back to meaningful life activities and the communication demands they require for those activities. This program runs weekly for nine consecutive weeks, then reduces to monthly sessions for four months.
